Sound Cloud Sunday – May 27, 2018 (Ep.16)

Sound Cloud Sunday  May 27, 2018

We were happy to host Jack Symes in studio this week as he launches his “Good Company” tour, 13 gigs in 16 days to raise money and awareness for Surfrider Foundation, an organization helping and defending our shorelines and our oceans from pollution and drilling.  Jack will be touring up and down the coast beginning June 5 at the Patagonia Store in Santa Monica on 4th Street.  Their eco-friendly great sponsors will be there selling and distributing all kinds of goodies and Laurel Canyon Radio is proud to support Jack’s efforts.   Check out The Surfrider Website

and why not drop them a donation to help their important work get done.

Luke Winslow-King – Blue Mesa

Hometown:  Cadillac, MI

Album:  From his 6th album “Blue Mesa” just out on Blood Shot Records

Review Snippet:  Don’t look for ferocious twists and turns on Luke Winslow-King’s “Blue Mesa.” Though he well knows life is usually far from trouble-free, this is a collection of soulfully simple and effective songs with a wide range of guitar sounds and a mix of blues, rock, folk and boogie.

Next Time in LA:  Hotel Café on June 28.

Jimmie Allen – Best Shot

Hometown:  Southern Delaware

Album:  His self titled debut EP is out on Stoney Creek records.

Review Snippet:  Those driving forces form the bedrock Allen’s EP, a cutting-edge mix of country, rock, R&B, and pop produced by Ash Bowers and Eric Torres. Ironically, it’s the same sound he had when he first arrived in Nashville, but now things are different.

Next Time in LA:  Don’t see him near LA but he is playing at the California Rodeo Kickoff in Salinas,  and Harrah’s Dive in Funner (near Temecula) on July 12-13.

CC Smugglers – Dirty Money

Hometown:  Beds County, UK

Matt McGinn- Medicine Joe

Hometown:  Dublin, Ireland

Album:  “The End of The Common Man”

Review Snippet:  Although at home in the studio recording and producing it’s live where the magic really happens. Matt’s immediate bond with an audience whilst surrounded by some of Ireland’s best musicians, mean no two shows will ever be the same.
